Certainly one of the most popular cars of the “original Muscle car Era” is the iconic 69 Camaro. Whether it’s a painstakingly restored original or a contemporary “hot rod” the 69 Camaro is considered by most to be one of the best muscle cars ever produced…
Mike Quall from Enumclaw, WA. chose a different route for his Camaro.
Rather than restore it to “better than new” condition, he chose to modify it, in a road race “style”. Not unlike the cars used to compete in the original “Trans Am and Can-Am
Road Racing Series” back in the late 60’s or early 70’s.
Mike selected Ron Pircey Enterprises to perform the “transformation”.
His modifications included a 10 point road race style cage with custom NASCAR type side bars along with a Panhard Bar to combat body roll under heavy cornering.
To complement the Roll Cage, a racing seat and battery box were also installed in accordance with the rules set forth by the “Northwest Historics Racing Association”.
The car competes regularly in the association’s annual racing series each spring and summer.
To keep track of performance and the car’s “vitals” a custom dash was also fabricated with the full complement of Autometer gauges to monitor the Small Block Chevrolet powered “masterpiece”.
As you view the photos you may notice the “Hurst Shifter” which connects to a Richmond 5 speed transmission.
